    Refused to notarize a document because if they did it incorrectly they'd be fined for the mistake. Seems ridiculous to me, just ensure the document is correct before you notarize it and all is well, no? Good thing line was short or this would have been a lot of time wasted. Update: The document in question is an i9. After some Google-fu, it seems that an i9 does not require notarization. Would have been helpful is the clerk was able to explain that to me rather than cite they're afraid of being fined. Bottom line, this bmv will not notarize i9s.
